Zwermen over Assisië // Jij ziet, jij ziet wat ik niet zie

On Saturday evening, November 23, we will travel for the third time with our film set to Landpark Assisië for a new edition of Zwermen over Assisië. This cultural evening begins at 7:00 PM and offers film, music, circus, performances, and more.

Creators from the region, or with artistic roots in Tilburg, will test and showcase their work in progress this evening. As an audience member, you’ll have the chance to see this work as one of the first and engage directly with the artists.

As part of the program, we will screen the short film 'Jij ziet, jij ziet wat ik niet zie' by Martijn Welles.

Director Martijn Welles and his brother Robbert have created a hidden world since their youth. In this world, they shared their boundless imagination, where Robbert's disability played no role. With an abundance of love, admiration, and a promise to his older brother, Martijn has now decided to fulfill their childhood dream and make the fantasy film Tales of Neverland together after all these years.

This is Martijn's graduation film for his studies at the St. Joost Academy of Arts. Together with his brother, he works on the script, storyboard, and scouting film locations. Through this, Martijn aims to demonstrate that no limitation is an obstacle for a creative mind, while also embracing 'childhood' with one final dance.

Out of respect, admiration, love, and the conviction of equality, Martijn does not want to make any concessions because of Robbert's disability. With this mindset, he embarks on the adventure, and during the creative process, he painfully realizes that having a brother with a disability offers valuable insights—no matter how bittersweet they may be—and exposes his own imperfections.
